It’s Good to Write……..

Every Writer or Blogger will tell you that you should know your ‘Target Audience’ and who you are Writing for and I totally agree and I get that, but sometimes you just need to Write for ‘you’.

I Write because I enjoy it and I get a real sense of pleasure from sharing my stories, thoughts, ideas and my rambles with you. You don’t always need a specific reason to write, sometimes you just need to write for ‘you’. There is nothing wrong with that, so don’t always get hung up with ‘who you are writing for’, sometimes it can be for you and solely you, to get some random thoughts out of your head and onto the page.

Equally sometimes you need a break from writing to recharge your batteries and refresh your thoughts, again there is nothing wrong with that.

It’s not always about ‘doing the right thing’, sometimes its about doing something for yourself, that makes you feel happy and there should no guilt attached to that.

So feel free, write because you want to write and write what you want to write, there are no rules remember, it’s your blog and sometimes you should just write without a care in the world……………

  1. Thanks for telling us or reminding us that it is our blog and we can write what ever or whenever we feel like it. I didn’t know I like to write until I have been in a few prompts last year. Although from time to time I would have inspirational thoughts come to me when I was doing the dishes or gardening. Then I would start thinking of title. I liked the way you worded about writing and thank you for sharing this.

  2. Excellent reminder! Sometimes we forget that we are part of our audience, too. It doesn’t need to be a case of “me” versus “my readers.” I think we write better when the topic is important to us, and our passion will (hopefully?) draw the readers into the story. If I am lukewarm, they will be, too.

Some of my blog posts that drew the most responses were ones I debated over the entire time I was writing them! Luckily I trusted my “gut” or “instinct” and continued with them, instead of trying to second-guess myself. It’s a little (a lot!) scary, but I try to trust that spark of inspiration. It’s there for a reason!

    1. Thanks Christine and what you say is very true, some times its not necessarily about being controversial or saying controversial things, its more about asking questions that the readers themselves would want to ask, that way the reader will fill engaged with what you/we write.

    1. Thanks Jenny, I think it’s important to recognise you’re target audience and know who you are writing for, that’s definitely key, but also there is nothing wrong with going ‘off piste’ every now and again and doing something just for ‘you’
