#52Ancestors ‘Tombstone’

Welcome to week 21 of my Genealogy challenge, from the wonderful Amy Johnson Crow, of writing something about your Ancestors for a whole year, #52Ancestors in 52 weeks.

This week the prompt is “Tombstone”, now if you know me well, you will know that I am a little bit OCD with trying to find the burial locations of my Ancestor’s, generation by generation, it’s a passion of mine and one of those ‘backfill’ jobs that I keep coming back to from time to time.

I have so many images that I have collected over the years of Family graves, but instead of choosing one of those, I decided to choose the grave of my Mum and Dad and show you how over time, the ravages of the elements, can seriously deteriorate a headstone. So here we have a before and after picture of their grave and headstone, which was completely restored professionally after Mum passed away.

The elements and time can take their tole on a Gravestone, but with some professional help and restoration, Mum and Dad’s grave was back to looking at it’s best again.
