#52Ancestors “Same Name”

I am still managing to keep up with Amy Johnson Crow’s #52Ancestors in 52 weeks challenge and week 6 brings the subject of “Same Name”.

So let me introduce you to 10 – Thomas Wootton’s!

My 7 x Great Grandfather was Thomas Wootton born appx. 1688.

My 6 x Great Grandfather was Thomas Wootton born 18th December 1711 in Mansell Gamage in Herefordshire.

My 5 x Great Grandfather was Thomas Wootton born 27th March 1757 in Mansell Gamage in Herefordshire.

My 4 x Great Grandfather was Thomas Wootton born 7th June 1778 in Mansell Gamage in Herefordshire.

My 3 x Great Grand Uncle was Thomas Wootton born 6th June 1813 in Mansell Gamage in Herefordshire. (Not my direct line)

My 2 x Great Grandfather was Thomas Wootton 28th Feb 1839 in Peterchurch, Herefordshire.

Thomas WOOTTON

Sadly this is where my direct line of “Thomas Wootton’s” ended.

My Great Grandfather was christened William Tom Wootton and my own Grandfather was Edward Tom Wootton.

There are also another 4 Thomas Wootton “Cousins” also on my tree, all born in the Herefordshire area.

I would love to say that the name Thomas continued on with my own name, but the tradition of Thomas’s had stopped and I inherited my Grandfather’s name of Edward as my middle name.

So just the 10 Thomas Woototon’s in total!

  1. My husband’s got lots of John Joseph, Michael, Barbara, Mary, in the generations and in his own generation, I’ve got Georg/George in my family. All very confusing when the generations spread and names are repeated over and over!
