#52Ancestors Week 42 ‘Proud’

Welcome to Week 42 of my Genealogy challenge, from the wonderful Amy Johnson Crow, of writing something about your Ancestors for a whole year, #52Ancestors in 52 weeks. This week’s prompt is ‘Proud’.

So who am I proud of?

Well of course, every single one of my Ancestors!

From the old to the young, the big and the small, the meek and the courageous, I thank each and very one of you, without you I wouldn’t be here today, telling your stories. I even thank those of you I have yet to discover, although some of you could make it that little bit easier to find you.

You have had to battle many different adversities, most of which I am fortunate enough to say, that I have not had to endure myself, including disease, famine, starvation, illness, homelessness, no work and losing so many young children. You have struggled through two World Wars, plus many other conflicts, losing so many young lives in these Wars.

All of these hardships have strengthened your resolve and given you the courage to stand up and fight and to carry on, regardless of the hardships that life has thrown against you. This has moulded your character and given you the dignity to hold your head up high and walk tall, each and everyone of you forms part of the fabric that makes me who I am today, the good, the bad and the ugly, I thank you all…………
