Welcome to Week 52 of my Genealogy challenge, from the wonderful Amy Johnson Crow, of writing something about your Ancestors for a whole year, #52Ancestors in 52 weeks. This weeks prompt is ‘Resolution’
Today I am celebrating the fact that I have completed the #52Ancestors challenge and not missed one single week this year. After starting the challenge previously and losing my way halfway through, I am so pleased that I have managed to keep on track and complete the task, so I am awarding myself a ‘Well Done’! 52 Ancestors completed in 52 Weeks, what a great achievement.
If you haven’t thought about doing this challenge before yourself, I would urge you to do it. You don’t have to do every single week, you can miss weeks, do one a month, the choice is yours. Remember everything that you do write is something more than you had before you started. So why not make it one of your ‘Genealogy Goals’ for 2021 and make it your ‘New Years Resolution’.
Well done indeed! I started this year and managed about 11 weeks before the wheels fell off my little red wagon and I just haven’t managed to get them back on. I do have an excuse though, in that I started hosting two Zoom groups, one of which was a writer’s group – and I have been writing although not to Amy’s topics! Will I try again this year? Maybe I’ll follow your example and give it a shot!

Hi Robbie, thanks for your message, I was like that last year, once I lost momentum it was hard to pick up the thread again. That’s why I was determined to see it through this year. Give it a try next year, if you can, remember everything that you do write is a bonus!

I did that previously, sometimes life and other things get in the way, but make it a New Years resolution for next year!

You have inspired me to sign up for 2021! I’m not really much of a writer, which may be a little strange for someone who started writing a blog, so I’m hoping the weekly prompts will help. I’m excited to see how it goes.

Glad to hear that you are giving it a go Elaine! Just remember everything that you do write is a bonus and don’t worry if you do m its a week, there is no #52Ancestors Police who are going to chase you! It’s a fun things to do and make sure you enjoy it, I will keep an eye out for your posts

Well done! My first year trying, but I managed to complete 19, got several others started and my mind is still blank for an idea for half a dozen but they will get finished and I will try to keep up in 2021. The FTF Writers’ Shed helped spur me on, but the trouble is those rabbit holes which open up when I am checking things …..

I know what you mean, sometimes it’s a struggle to fit everything in and sometimes it’s hard to find a topic to write about, but everything we do write about is extra to what we had before

I have enjoyed reading your blog posts this year and admire your ability to have posted every week. I tried, but sometimes couldn’t find a story for the prompt and other times life got in the way. I will try again next year (Momma didn’t raise no quitter!) because I really do enjoy the process, the people and the stories uncovered. Thanks for sharing your family tree with us!

Thank you so much for your message, I really appreciate it. I had tried and failed previously myself, so no shame in that and remember everything that we do write is something that we didn’t have before. I stretched the primly ideas a few times, so don’t be afraid of doing that and sometimes I just used a photograph and short story. I’m sure you will achieve your goal in 2021
